When someone follows you on Instagram, you'll instantly get a notification. But what if you want to check if they're following you weeks or months down the line? Here's how to tell if someone follows you on Instagram or not.
First, open the Instagram app on your iPhone or Android device, and navigate to the person's profile.
If you aren't following them, and they're following you, you'll see a "Follow Back" button instead of the normal "Follow" button.
If you see the "Follow Back" button, the puzzle is solved. That person or account is following you on Instagram.
But if you are following them, the button will say "Following." If you want to check if they follow you, the process is slightly more difficult.
From their profile, tap on the "Following" option found at the top of the screen.
Here, you'll see a list of every user they are following. Tap the Search bar and then type in your own name or Instagram handle.
If your name comes up, it means they're following you. If not, well, tough luck.
What if the person is following you, and you'd rather they didn't see all of your posts? You can try hiding your Instagram Stories from them or block them altogether.

What does followers or following mean on Instagram? Your Instagram stats appear on your profile, but many users don't consider their follower count, following list, and how the two numbers can be interpreted. While your Instagram account might have a lot of followers and you may be following other users as you please, many Instagram users judge other users based on these numbers.
Followers vs. Following Definition
Defining these terms may seem silly, but new users to Instagram have a huge learning curve, so we'll go through the basics.
Followers on Instagram are the users that follow you; these followers can see your posts on both your profile and on their feed. If your Instagram is set to private, these are the only people who can see your posts. They can also view your Instagram stories and send you direct messages.
Following refers to the list of users that you follow on Instagram; these users' posts appear on your feed, and you have access to view their profile if you want. You can direct message these users, but if they do not follow you back they may have to approve the message before responding.
Maintaining Follower and Following Ratio
Comparing the number of users that are following you and the number of users that you follow is often referred to as the follower/following ratio. By comparing the follower/following ratio, many users judge about the quality of your Instagram account.
An account that follows a lot of people but has few followers is generally considered a low-quality account or may even be a fake account. An account with an even ratio of followers to following numbers is generally considered normal. Users with way more followers than they are following are viewed as good or even great accounts, and these users may be celebrities or Instagram influencers.
When Is Follower/Following Ratio Important?
If you only run your own personal account, tracking your follower and following ratios isn't really necessary. Many users only post on Instagram to share with friends and family and stay up to date on each others' lives, so these users don't really need to worry about their ratio. The general purpose behind a personal Instagram account is to only remain connected with family and friends. Therefore, in most cases of your personal accounts followers, many of these people know who you are. They are not following you because of your follower/following ratio.
Businesses, brands, and Instagram influencers, however, work to maintain a positive follower/following ratio (more followers than they are following) to promote their account and to let other followers see that they are an interesting account to follow. The follower/following ratio on Instagram is really just about your reputation on Insta as a cool account or, if your ratio is bad, a spammy account that follows people but does not get followed back.
Average Number of Followers on Instagram
A report from Statista stated that the average number of followers for teens in 2015 was 150 followers. This is a pretty low number, and Instagram has grown in popularity since 2015 so it is likely that the real average is higher. Without any new studies released, however, it's impossible to know what the real average number is in 2019. Most celebrities have over a million followers, and the 10 most followed Instagram accounts of 2018 all have over 100 million followers each.
Instagram limits how many people you can follow at 7,500, so no one can follow more than that regardless of how many followers they have.

Do you suspect somebody committed the cardinal sin of unfollowing you on Instagram?
There's an easy way to check. Let's put on our sleuth trench coats, get out our magnifying glasses, and investigate.
1. Go to the Instagram profile of the person you want to check the follow status.
2. Tap where it says "Following" in the top right corner.
There will be a number above it that shows how many accounts they follow.
3. On the next screen, tap where it says "Following" with that number next to it.
This will pull up the list of accounts they follow.
4. Type your display name or handle (username that starts with @) into the search bar.
If your account comes up in the search results, this person is still following you. Yay!
However, if your account does not come up in the search results, that person is not following you. If they were following you before, well. at some point, they unfollowed you. Ouch. Here's an example to see what that'll look like:
Let's say for the sake of this article that Ariana Grande, at some point in time, followed me on Instagram. One day, I decide to go on social media and say that her new album is hot garbage (Gasp! I would never). Now I'm wondering if she unfollowed me because of what I said.
So I go to her profile and search my account in her "following" list like I showed you how to do above. And to my horror and dismay, my account does not come up in the search results.
"No users found." That'd mean she would have unfollowed me (and I would've deserved it, too).
Anyway, that's how you can tell if somebody unfollowed you on instagram. And to be perfectly clear, in case my hypothetical example gave you the wrong impression, Ariana Grande has no bad albums in her discography and never will.
You didn't come here for pop music commentary but you're getting it. You're welcome!
Instagram is the ideal platform for keeping up with your friends and getting to know new ones, but it's also fun to see who's staying up to date on all of your latest posts. So, if you're curious whether someone's following you on Instagram, you can bet you're not alone. There are a few ways to find out exactly who's down to see your selfies and throwback Thursday pics when they open Instagram first thing in the morning.
It's always been possible to check and see if someone is following you on Instagram. As soon as a person starts following you, you get a notification — you can find it if you click on the little heart icon at the bottom of the page. But if that person started following you weeks or even months ago, the process takes a little more finagling if you don't know the right tricks. First, you'd head to your profile to find your list of followers. Then you'd scroll through hundreds (or maybe thousands, you popular fellow) of usernames in search of a specific person. Depending on how many people follow you, this can be a huge undertaking, and you always run the risk of missing their name on the list. The alternative is even worse: You'd have to slog through their list of followers to see if your username made the cut. Basically, both of those options are less than ideal.
Luckily, there's an easier way to see who's following you or see who's unfollowed you on Instagram — here's what you have to do.
First, Go To Your Profile Page
To get to your profile, click on the little person icon in the bottom righthand corner of your screen. If you have the person's username, you should be able to check whether or not they're following you directly from your profile page. Note, though, that this will only work if you're using the mobile app, not desktop.
Tap "Followers"
At the top of the your profile page, you should see three numbers. One indicates how many Instagram posts you have ("posts"), another indicates how many people are following you ("followers"), and another indicates how many people you're following ("following"). Tap the "followers" number, and it should open to a list of the public accounts that are following you.
Search For The Person's Username
From there, you should be able to type in the name or username of the person you're checking up on into the search bar to see if it comes up; as you can see, if the person is not following you back, their name won't appear. You can also check this by going to the other user's profile, and searching through their "following" list to see if your name comes up.
If you want to go a step further and see which of your followers has unfollowed you on Instagram without visiting each of their profiles, apps like Followers Track for Instagram! and FollowMeter for Instagram will keep tabs. That being said, if you're only wondering whether one person in particular stopped following you, searching for their name in your "Followers" section could be just as quick.
There's always the possibility that what you find will be disappointing, but at least you can take comfort in knowing you can find out so easily. And hey, then you'll know who your real friends are. And if you're interested in gaining more followers, you can check out these 10 proven ways to boost your Instagram following.
How to see who someone recently followed on Instagram 2021? How to see recent followers on Instagram in order & increase? Don't miss to know these tricks!

Do you remember who you recently followed on Instagram?
How to See Recent Followers on Instagram: in Order
Before checking accounts you recently followed, let's take a look at how to see your recent followers. As important as followings, followers are another metric that Instagram users often focus on, especially checking recent followers on Instagram they gained, full of anticipation. While, could you see recent followers on Instagram? As mentioned in notes, you couldn't see your new followers in the follower list chronologically, neither of how to see someone's recent followers on Instagram in that way, but you can find 100 latest followers after gaining Instagram followers firstly.
How to Increase Recent Followers on Instagram?
If you don't want to follow or like, just buy high-quality followers directly on the Followers Gallery website or in its app. Discounts are given every day, even more on holidays, besides that, every bill will be gifted extra free Instagram followers or likes.
An influencer on Instagram has discovered a hack to see who someone has recently followed on Instagram — could potentially bring an end to some relationships, or, at the very least, start a fight or two.
Miami-based model Kornelija Slunjski shared the trick in early April.
"Thank me later," she captioned her viral Instagram Reel.
"Would you like to know an Instagram detective secret?" Slunjski began the video. "Open Instagram in Safari and there you can see who your boy recently started following."
In October 2019, Instagram discontinued its Following Activity Tab. The feature allowed users to see which posts their followers were liking on the platform, as well as who they were adding and being followed by.
Instagram followers and following lists might seem like chaos, but there is an order to them. If you have less than 200 followers, the list is organized in alphabetical order by the name on their profile, not their username. Profiles without a name will be listed above the alphabetical list.
For those with more than 200 followers, the list is organized based on your interactions with them.
That's for who's following you. Meanwhile, the list of who you're following is based on mutual interaction: Whose posts you like, who likes your posts, if you comment on each other's posts, tag each other, DM each other, etc.
However, when you view a user's following and follower list in Safari, the order is chronological. That means you can use the browser to see how someone's recently followed — and who's recently followed them.
Slunjski's suggestion? Try the trick on your boyfriend.
"So if he says it was a boys' night out, why are you following five new girls?" Slunjski said in her clip. "Why!?"
This is a guide on how to view who someone recently followed on Instagram.
Update: This no longer works because of an update in June of 2021.
At the start of June, 2021, Instagram updated its website.
As a result, users are no longer able to see who someone else recently followed.
We warned our readers about the possibility of this back when we first wrote this article.
It was always likely that they would eventually "fix" the following list on the website version.
Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done about this. There is no "trick" to get around it unless you plan on keeping a record of who they are following.
Furthermore, you should be wary of any website or app that says otherwise.
Original article continues below.
Firstly, should you really do this?
OK. So your curiosity is starting to get the better of you and you're ready to get hurt again. The paranoia has been slowly creeping in over the past couple of days and now you can't take it anymore. You need to reassure yourself. It's just a quick "checkup", you tell yourself. However, we both know what you're really doing. You're gambling with your emotions. If you see who they recently followed on Instagram and there is no cause for concern, everything will be good again. On the other hand, if you see something that you don't like, it might feel like a punch in the gut.
In short, should you really do this? Think about that for a moment before you scroll down.
How to view who someone recently followed on Instagram.
Unfortunately, the Instagram app will not show you who the person in question has recently followed. This is because the "Following" list on the app is not displayed in a chronological order. In other words, if you click on the "Following" button underneath their profile, the list will be randomly sorted.
I know this because I have personally tested it.
As a result, the app is pretty much useless to us. So let's just park it aside for the time being.
The website version of Instagram displays the "Following" list in a chronological order.
Thankfully, there is a way around this. For some reason or another, the "Following" list on the website version of Instagram will show you who they recently followed.
Therefore, you will need to login to Instagram through your web browser and then check. This can easily be done via a laptop or a desktop PC. However, it will also work on your phone's web browser.
I personally tested this in October of 2020 and can confirm that the "trick" still works. Above is a screenshot of my "Following" list from the website version of Instagram. In this case, I used another account to confirm it via my desktop PC.
Seeing who they recently followed via mobile.
I was also able to confirm this workaround using the Chrome browser on Android.
In this case, the website showed me the exact same list of people that I had recently followed.
And that's it! Your heart should be breaking in no time!
Will this "trick" continue to work?
Personally, I doubt it. Instagram randomized the "Following" section on the app for a reason. To me, it seems as though they either forgot about changing the website version or they're holding off on modifying it for a while. It is likely that sooner or later, this "bug" or "trick" is going to be noticed and fixed.
And maybe that's for the best. Do you really want to spend your relationship checking up on what your boyfriend is doing? Do you really want to discover who your ex has started following on Instagram? In my opinion, it is better not to know about things that could jeopardize your mental health. People follow each other all of the time and it doesn't necessarily mean anything.
Instagram is a great way to connect with friends, family, and other people online. And it's quite obvious for you to be curious whether someone is following you or not. Therefore, we are here with some simple tricks through which you can quickly check if a person follows you on Instagram.
How to See if Someone Follows you on Instagram
Directly through the Person's Profile
This is one of the easiest methods to check if someone's following you on Instagram. It can be verified directly from the person's profile, and you don't need to open your follower list again and again.
1] Launch the Instagram app on your iPhone. Make sure to update the app to the latest version if not already.
2] Navigate to the person's profile for whom you want to check whether or not he/ she is following you.
3] Click on the three-dot menu given on the top right corner. A pop-up will appear on your screen.
4] If you see the option to Remove Follower in the menu, then the person is one of your followers. The option will not appear if he/she is not following you.
Unfortunately, this method works only on iOS for now.
Though there's a small workaround on Android- every time you open someone's profile, you'll see the 'Follow Back' button for accounts that are following you. But then again, it works only if you haven't followed them yet. Anyway, you can still use the other method given below.
By Checking your Followers List
This is a more generic way to tell whether someone's following you or not. It can be used on Android as well as iOS, through the steps given below.
1] Launch the Instagram app on your smartphone. Then, open your profile by clicking the profile icon at the bottom right corner.
2] Here, click on the Followers button. It'll now display a list of all your followers.
3] Now, all you need to do is search for the person's name or account handle in the search bar. If they appear in the list, then they're following you. If it says "No users found," or shows blank results, then they're not.
Wrapping Up
So these were some quick steps to check if someone's following you on Instagram. Anyway, which method worked the best for you? Do let us know in the comments below. Also, don't forget to follow @gadgetstouse on Instagram.
Everyone in his life has been at least 100 times online or offline. Oh, How Instagram can be dangerous.
The ability to recognize Instagram online status has been added to this app. By this feature, there will be no need to tell lie to your audience about how much time you are online. Because they can see the last time that you used Instagram easily. Of course, if you haven't changed your Instagram settings. In this article, we will tell you how to detect the Instagram online presence and above all how to hide it.
How to understand who is online on Instagram?
This new Instagram feature only works for users who use the latest version of Instagram. So the first step to detect Instagram online status is updating Instagram. Now that you've updated your Instagram, go to your directories. You can see the online status of the users that you talked to and the last time that they have been online. In some versions of Instagram, you may also see a green light next to the names of people who are online.
But what do these numbers and characters mean?
"Active 23m ago" = the last online status was 23 minutes ago
"Active 1h ago" = the last online status was 1 hour ago
"Active now" = the user is online now
The major point of this issue is to differentiate the last online status and the time of the last message. As shown in the image below, the "Active" word is not written below the user's photo and the 5h statement does not display the last time of being online. But it means that the last message was exchanged 5 hours ago. In fact, it's not possible to recognize the online presence of Instagram about this person. In the next section, we will tell you why some people's information in your direct message part is displayed in this form.
Hide online status on Instagram
Maybe you're one of those people who have no desire to get around others! Such people are not interested in the fact that somebody is interfering in them too. Of course, recognizing the online status on Instagram should not be important for everyone. There are many who do not like to show their online and offline hours to Instagram for others. For this reason, Instagram has prepared a simple solution for you: hide Instagram online status.
If the last Instagram visit status of the user is not displayed to you, that user has disabled the option to show the online presence on Instagram. If you want to do so follow the steps below:
1- Go to Instagram settings
First, click on 3 points icon and go to Instagram settings. In this section, you can hide your last online presence status. Keep in mind that in settings, you can control all part of Instagram and change every setting upon your personal opinions. Instagram settings at first glance, may seem complicated. But if you once and forever know what each option does, it will make your Instagram looks the best. I had a friendship that after two years of being part of Instagram, he had just realized that he could filter out comments from the Instagram settings section from dirty words. I suggest you read our Instagram settings article to find out everything about Instagram settings.
2- Select Activity Status
3- Turn off Show Activity Status
When you turn this option off, it's no longer possible for each of your followers to find out your online presence status on Instagram. Notice that if you hide your online presence, Instagram will hide other's online status from you too. If you turn off this option, you can no longer find out who is online on Instagram.
My suggestion; the author
The author suggests that instead of following up the online presence or offline status of others, let's do a useful job on Instagram. Let's focus on your own page and try to increase your followers with your specific contents. If we want to be honest with ourselves, there are many clowns on Instagram and try to be a millionaire. Also, there are many genius people with open minds that try to be popular and wealthy by offering a unique idea.
But I'm not talking to these people. I'm talking to those who are similar to me. The people who love to be popular on Instagram and earn money but don't know how to achieve this goal on Instagram. I highly suggest you make a plan for your life and business. Believe me, recognizing the online presence of others is not really important. But it's very important to understand how a successful person acts. Spend some time for yourselves and read this amazing article.
